Residents and the wider community are being invited to help shape plans to create an exciting new lakeside community for Ebbsfleet Garden City and the wider local community.

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation (EDC) is working on a draft Concept Plan for the Thames Way Development Area. The proposed neighbourhood would bring new housing, leisure, recreation and community facilities for everyone, at the same time as improving connections between existing and new communities.

The draft Concept Plan aims to create a high-quality, new neighbourhood from land and lake resources which it had not previously been considered possible to develop. It seeks to:

• Open up public access to Blue Lake, making it a safe, accessible and enjoyable space for the public

• Protect and enhance the variety of animal and plant life in the area

• Build a new landmark Leisure Facility – addressing the shortage of leisure amenities in the Garden City and surrounding area

• Establish a new lakeside community – providing new homes

• Create new community facilities including a new community centre

• Replace the existing wastewater treatment works within a new building on the existing site, creating a modern, green, quiet, clean and odourless facility

• Improve transport and pedestrian links between this area, the existing communities and Ebbsfleet Central (the areas around Ebbsfleet International Train Station)
